Bedford Primary School Library

A school library fosters critical thinking, collaboration, communication & creativity. It's a starting point for your personalized learning!

The BPS Library serves students in grades preK - 1.

You will be amazed at how much the library has to offer!

If you need help with research, finding a good book to read, solving a technology crisis or simply need a place to work, visit the library.

Library class!

Every student at Bedford Primary School visits the library at least once a week for a story, activities and book checkout.

Kindergarten students get to check out 1 book at a time.

First Grade students get to check out 2 books at a time.

If you bring your books back, you can check out more books.

Students can return books to the library in the morning before school starts in order to check out more books! They can do this everyday as long as they bring their books back and can get to class before the bell rings!

PreK students get to check out 1 book at a time. The books come home at the discretion of the classroom teacher.

Students are responsible for returning all books by the end of the year.

Makerspace!

Kindergarten and First Grade students come to the library for Makerspace classes. These classes allow the students a chance to do hands-on research into building and creating to enhance STEM learning.

All classes emphasize teamwork and communication skills which will help the students throughout their educational learning. Most of all we have fun in personalized learning!

Kindergarten students get to come to Makerspace during the second semester. Classes will emphasize building, math skills and logical thinking. Teamwork and patience is an essential skill builder.

First Grade students get to come to Makerspace during the first semester. Classes will emphasize learning beginning research skills on the Big 3 model. Then we get to create projects based on our research. These classes emphasize sciences including basic physics, electronics, robotics and computer programming.

Behavior expectations in the library:

When you are listening to a story, I expect you to GIVE ME FIVE:

1. Legs are crossed

2. Hands are still

3. Ears are listening

4. Eyes are watching

5. Lips are zipped

When you are in the library, you should always be respectful of others and the books. Remember! The library is all about sharing and working together as a team so we can all learn together!
