Dear Bedford Primary School Parents and Guardians:

I am excited to be joining the Bedford Primary School staff and look forward to meeting and getting to know each student and family. I also look forward to working with the excellent staff and supportive community to assist our students. We continue to be very proud of the social, behavioral and academic progress that our students continue to make with the support of their teachers, family and the community as a whole. Our theme for the upcoming year is “Our Journey Begins Here….Let’s Make Tracks Together”. As a part of this theme, you will see various modes of transportation around the building. Join us in encouraging all of our students to embark on a “journey” as we learn together.

There have been changes to the school schedule for the 2011-2012 school year. Our instructional day begins promptly at 7:55 am and ends at 2:25pm. To ensure student safety, students will be allowed to enter the building no earlier than 7:25 am when staff are available to provide supervision. If you bring your child to school after this time, he/she will be tardy and you will need to sign them into school in the office. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria from 7:25-7:50 a.m. If your child is a car rider please ensure that they arrive before the end of breakfast to allow them time to eat and not miss important instructional time.

Please remember that car riders should be dropped off and picked up at the side entrance to the cafeteria and only bus riders will be dropped off in the front circle. This enables us to closely monitor the safety of all students. Dismissal will begin at 2:25 p.m. each day and will be completed by 2:45 p.m. If your child needs to go to a different location on any afternoon, please remember to send a note to the teacher or call the school prior to dismissal.

Visitors are welcome at Bedford Primary School and are asked to sign in and out at the office for each visit. Visitors are encouraged to visit students and teachers before school, during lunch, and after school. To assist students to maintain focus to the teacher’s instruction, visits to the classroom during instruction is discouraged. If you need to visit during instruction please schedule this visit through the office.

I look forward to working with each and every child and parent as we begin our journey together. I know that this will be a great school year!

Sincerely,

Lisa L. Dellis, M. Ed.
